Israel to demolish European-funded homes in occupied Jerusalem

    July 18, 2017

The Israeli occupation authorities have ordered the demolition of six Palestinian residential buildings funded by European parties in Jabal Al-Baba bedouin community in the east of the occupied Jerusalem.

The spokesman of the Bedouin community, Atallah Muzar’a, told Quds Press today that the Israeli civil administration crews, accompanied by military troops, stormed the area yesterday and handed six administrative demolition orders to a number of Palestinian families in the neighbourhood.

The orders, he added, are part of an Israeli ethnic cleansing scheme – E1 project – that has been carried out in favour of the Ma’aleh Adumim illegal settlement outpost.

The E1 project targets some 12,000 dunums of Palestinian land in the West Bank and Jerusalem. It is one of the Jewish settlement projects that aim to separate the Palestinian communities from the occupied West Bank.

Female Palestinian prisoner strip searched and photographed by male Israel soldiers

A Palestinian woman was strip searched by male Israeli soldiers who took pictures of her undressed on their mobile phones, Amnesty International has said.

Khitam Sa’afeen said: “The Israeli army raided my house at 2:30am on 2nd July then took me to my room and searched me.

“On our way to Ofer prison, they took photos of me with their own cameras and mobile phones.

“One of the soldiers said that he will post my photos on Facebook.”

Sa’afeen added that when she arrived at Ofer prison, she was put in a cage and searched while handcuffed and naked.

Amnesty International condemned the treatment and has demanded an investigation into the violations.

The rights group said that they were following up on the latest developments in the cases of senior figures in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Sa’afeen and Khalida Jarrar.

The two women were arrested and detained last week after they were taken from their family homes in occupied Ramallah before being placed in Israeli detention centres.

this is a common thing. They force Palestinian Christian and Muslim women and girls to strip down at check points. These terrorists also arrest Palestinian women and strip them down to take their pictures and then use those as blackmail to force them to spy on their families.

What’s Happening at Al Aqsa Mosque?

Worldwide protests have taken place following Israel’s decision to install metal detectors and security cameras at the Al Aqsa Mosque compound. Here’s a summary of what has happened in the last week:

    Friday 14th July 2017
    • An incident leaves 3 Palestinians and 2 Israeli policemen dead.
    • Israel closes Al Aqsa Mosque.
    • Friday prayers are cancelled for the first time in 48 years.

    Saturday 15th July 2017
    • Al Aqsa Mosque remains closed.

    Sunday 16th July 2017
    • The mosque is re-opened. However, Israeli forces install metal detectors and security cameras around the mosque’s compound despite having no authority over the site under international law.
    • Palestinians refuse to enter the Al Aqsa compound protesting against the new restrictions. They believe that if they comply, it will be accepting Israel’s authority.

    Monday 17th July 2017
    • The security barriers remain and Palestinians continue to protest by praying outside the Al Aqsa compound

    Tuesday 18th July 2017
    • An Imam of Al Aqsa, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri is shot by Israeli forces as they attempt to forcefully disperse worshippers.

    Wednesday 19th July 2017
    • The security barriers remain and Palestinians continue to protest by praying outside the Al Aqsa compound.

    Thursday 20th July 2017
    • Talks between the Palestinian Authority and the Israelis collapse. The PA’s chief negotiator Hatem Abdel-Kader tells Middle East Eye: “The metal detectors serve no security purpose whatsoever. Rather, their erection is a political play to pressure Palestinians into relinquishing control of Al-Aqsa.”

    Friday 21st July 2017
    • Worldwide protests take place against the measures imposed by Israel. 18-year-old Mohammad Sharaf is killed by a settler during protests in East Jerusalem.

Save the graphic below (and attached) and share it with your friends so they can be informed about what’s going on:

Masjid Al Aqsa: Palestinians will never surrender to Israeli occupation

    19th July 2017

Veteran Arab journalist Abdel Bari Awtan says the Palestinian people will keep reaffirming that they will never submit to the Israeli occupation whatever the odds.

The three young men from the Jabareen family of Umm al-Fahem who carried out last Friday’s attack in Jerusalem sent a wake-up call to the Palestinian Authority (PA) and its president Mahmoud Abbas. He hastened to telephone Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to express his condemnation and his condolences for the two Israeli policemen who were killed.

It also served as a reminder to a billion and a half Muslims worldwide that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, their original qibla, is still under occupation, and that the steadfast people who live around it are giving their lives to resist and to defend it.

We doubt that President Abbas will also call the Jabareen family which gave birth to the three young men and raised them to love Palestine and defend its holy places against the systematic campaign to Judaise them. Nor will he offer them condolences as he does whenever a member of the Israeli army is killed. The job of the PA and its security forces is to protect Israeli settlers, not Palestinian lives.

The attack at the Al-Aqsa courtyard will doubtless trouble the Israeli occupation and the PA alike, due to its scale, the daring shown by the attackers, and their use of firearms to carry it out and kill the two Israeli policemen. It shows that young Palestinians intent on resisting the occupation are developing their methods and no longer relying on individual knife attacks – not least because Israeli troops now routinely shoot and kill them in cold blood regardless of whether there is a stabbing attempt, but merely on suspicion of intent.

Countless young men and women have been killed because they were suspected of possibly carrying a knife, including one who was shown being shot in the head by an Israeli soldier while he lay bleeding as an Israeli ambulance crew looked on.

    No surrender

The Israeli authorities assumed the Palestinian people had surrendered to the occupation because the PA had surrendered, and because Hamas did a deal with the Dahlan wing of Fatah in a desperate bid to get the blockade of the Gaza Strip eased and enable its two million inhabitants to survive. It believed they had submitted to “moderation” and abandoned any further thought of resistance because Arab and Islamic support had collapsed as a result of the wars in Syria, Iraq and Yemen in particular, and because some Arab regimes now see Israel as a friend and ally who can be relied on to defend them against the “Iranian ogre.”

But the Palestinian people will not surrender to Israeli occupation nor submit to its injustice and racism. They will exercise their right to resist by all means available. The fact that the attackers came from Umm al-Fahem, which was occupied in1948 and is better off economically than the West Bank, is a clear indication in this regard. It reaffirms the unity of the Palestinian people and their commitment to their legitimate rights to liberation, independence, justice and equality, wherever they are located within their homeland or in exile.

The Israeli authorities chose war, and have been blinded by the arrogance of power to their injustice, aggression and oppression against a people who held out an olive branch, and whose leaders gave up 80% of historic Palestine in the hope of achieving peace and co-existence. This choice will surely prove to be Israel’s eventual undoing.

Injustice and the unjust are short-lived by nature, and the surrounding Arab world’s current state of collapse is exceptional and will not last long. Oppressive rulers will fail to suppress their citizens’ genuine patriotic feelings of support for the Palestinian people against the occupation. Israel will never be transformed from enemy to friend, however much they muzzle and intimidate their people, and however hard their media empires and “electronic army” trolls try.

Last Friday’s attack in Jerusalem serves notice that the Palestinian people will not submit to the occupation, nor to its facilitators or those seeking to woo its friendship. The Israelis will one day have to recognise their rights and subscribe to international laws, resolutions and initiatives that can bring peace.

Israeli police shoot imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque after prayer

    July 19, 2017

The spiritual leader of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, was injured Tuesday by a plastic bullet after praying outside the gates of the site, according to Palestinian medical personnel.

The imam had just finished leading the night prayer when Israeli police attempted to disperse worshippers by force, leaving many injured, some seriously, Palestinian Red Crescent said.

Sabri was taken to the Al Maqassid Hospital in eastern Jerusalem and his condition has not been disclosed.

The shooting occurred just hours after Rafaat al-Herbawi, 30, was killed during protests at the mosque as tensions rise across the illegally occupied West Bank after Israel installed metal detectors at the entrance to Al-Aqsa following a shootout on Friday left five people dead.

More than 300 Palestinians have been killed in alleged attacks on Israelis or in clashes with Israeli forces since October 2015, according to Palestinian figures.

Israeli authorities say nearly 50 Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians during the same period.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam after the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

Israeli police ban Muslim men aged under 50 from Friday prayers in Jerusalem

Islamic leaders call for mass protests in response to the new security measures

Israeli police have banned Muslim men under the age of 50 from al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

The ban comes ahead of feared mass protests over the installation of metal detectors aimed at increasing security at the site.

Muslim leaders have called for mass protests at Friday’s noon prayers.

The shrine is revered by both Muslims and Jews.

Muslim leaders say Israel is trying to expand its control there by installing the security devices.

Gates were fitted with metal detectors after Palestinian gunmen launched an attack from there last week, killing two Israeli policemen.

Muslim leaders have called on worshippers to pray in the streets near the shrine rather than walk through metal detectors.

Over the course of the week, growing numbers of Palestinian worshippers have participated in street prayers, particularly in the evenings.

Following the prayers, small numbers of Palestinian protesters have clashed with police.

On Thursday evening, police fired rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades to disperse protesters who, according to police, threw rocks and bottles.

Paramedics from the Red Crescent said 37 people were injured by rubber bullets, three of them seriously.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said on Friday that reinforcements were being deployed in and around Jerusalem's Old City, where the walled shrine is located.

"Police and border police units mobilised in all areas and neighbourhoods,” he said.

Friday is the highlight of the Muslim religious week, and tens of thousands of worshippers typically perform prayers at the shrine, known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as the Temple Mount.

Netanyahu’s Message to the World: Accept Israel as It Is, Occupier and Settler

On his Europe trip, the prime minister criticized the Trump administration amid its weakness in Congress. Now he hopes Israel's corruption investigators will be deterred by his tough talk

    Aluf Benn Jul 22, 2017

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s "Budapest speech," in which he urged Europe to stop supporting the Palestinians, was the clearest expression yet of his worldview. He arrived as an international rock star and crony of U.S. President Donald Trump; the leaders of Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic flew in to meet him alongside his Hungarian host.

In a semi-closed forum, Netanyahu dispensed with the restraints and niceties that characterize his official speeches, abandoned political correctness and let loose. At least in the section broadcast to journalists (apparently by mistake), he didn’t speak about “peace” or the “two-state solution,” but about Israel’s growing power to help form alliances with other countries, a message repeated in all his speeches of the last year.

In Paris en route to Budapest, Netanyahu surprisingly harshly criticized the Trump administration. He accused his friend in the White House of endangering Israel’s security interests via the Russian-American cease-fire deal in southern Syria. Netanyahu often spoke that way about Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, and his nuclear deal with Iran, but is that any way to speak about his friend Trump?

After eight years of spats with Obama, one would have expected Netanyahu and Trump to resolve their differences quietly and not reveal the cracks in their relationship. But Netanyahu had no qualms: On top of criticizing Trump’s Syria deal, he also publicly scorned the president’s peace initiative.

What happened? Netanyahu apparently feels Trump is weak and isolated, is having trouble functioning and, most importantly, has no control over Congress, Netanyahu’s bastion of support.

Netanyahu assumes the Republican majority in both houses of Congress will thwart any attempt by Trump to impose “the ultimate deal” with the Palestinians on Israel. A few more empty talks with U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt, a few more videos of Palestinian incitement, and Trump’s initiative will join those of his predecessors on the scrap heap.

The basis for Netanyahu’s diplomatic activism is his assessment that America is growing weaker and gradually withdrawing from the Middle East. The visit to Haifa Port by the aircraft carrier George H. W. Bush, the first such visit since the beginning of the second intifada, doesn’t change the overall trend.

Oil is cheaper, and America no longer depends on the Middle East for its supply. Public opinion is isolationist, opposed to wars far from home. America’s internal rifts are deep and getting wider, and Netanyahu has taken the conservative side without even a pretense of bipartisanism. Perhaps bipartisan support is no longer even possible when Americans are so divided over everything. It’s better to have the Republicans’ support, since their control of Congress seems unassailable.

Netanyahu sees the Christian community as Israel’s most important bastion of support in America, alongside Orthodox Jews. His recent decisions against the Reform and Conservative movements – canceling the Western Wall deal and advancing the conversion bill – reflect a strategic disengagement from liberal American Jews.

This wasn’t a caprice caused by momentary pressure from Israel’s ultra-Orthodox parties, but a calculated decision that won almost wall-to-wall support in the cabinet. Netanyahu’s circle sees liberal Jewry as a transient phenomenon that will disappear on its own in another generation due to intermarriage and lack of interest in Jewish tradition or Israel.

    Beat them to the punch

For years, liberal Jews have threatened to break with Israel if it continues discriminating against their denominations, and some have also vocally opposed the unending occupation of the territories. They didn’t expect a right-wing Israeli government to break with them first.

This is Netanyahu’s message: Anyone who wants to support Israel must accept it as it is, with the occupation and the settlements. Anyone who accepts Israel only in the pre-1967 lines, like the European Union, is “crazy” and not wanted here. Reform Jews can keep praying at Temple Emanu-El on Fifth Avenue and see the Western Wall in pictures.

Liberal Europe, devoted to human rights and moral preaching, is sinking under the weight of waves of Middle Eastern refugees. Netanyahu doesn’t need it; he believes he has found alternatives in Russia, China and Narendra Modi’s India, and less openly, in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Those countries admire only power, not justice.

The main thing is for Germany to keep giving Israel the submarines that lend force to Netanyahu’s intensifying threats against Iran. And Germany’s support can always be bolstered with more Holocaust memorial ceremonies, as Netanyahu did this week in France and Hungary.

Has Gaza Become The New Nazi Concentration Camp Of Our Time?

1.4 million people living on a strip of land called the Gaza Strip surrounded from all sides by an overwhelming and punitive occupying force.

    video: Jewish Voices for Peace

Israel's stranglehold on the territory and the resources increases every single day. Gaza is effectively the world’s largest prison, A Middle Eastern Bantustan controlled by a new Apartheid State, Israel.

    via Facebook

Till July 2015, the number of homes destroyed had reached more than 12,000 with 100,000 damaged. Tens of thousands of people were left homeless and more than 500 children were among the 2,100 Palestinians, the majority of them civilians killed.

The Western media presents the Israeli narrative. There only a few dissenting voices in the international media.
    Channel 4 Jon Snow Report

Speaking of media, even reporters and journalists do not escape the wrath of the Israeli forces:

Haunting images of bombed out civilian buildings; burnt bodies of babies too gruesome to post on this forum appear via twitter and FB every single day.

The Israeli Defense Forces fury is not only limited to the imprisoned Gazans but also to outside media representatives that attempt to cover the crisis:

    Credit: endtheoccupation.org

On a different front an ever belligerent Israeli Government appears unmoved and vast swaths of the population appear to endorse their stance.

On a recent Facebook post Israeli lawmaker, Ayelet Shaked, issued a call for a total genocide of the Palestinians. The post declares “the entire Palestinian people is the enemy” and justifies its destruction, “including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure.” It further calls for the eradication of Palestinian mothers who give birth to “little snakes.”

Her post was shared more than one thousand times and received almost five thousand “Likes.”

Another example of life in a prison; Jewish Settlers walk in and take over a home in Palestine.

There is mounting evidence to suggest that Israel and IDF intend to take their marketing campaign to the social media by paying students to right pro-Israeli stories.

They continue to assert that the carnage in Gaza is a result of self-defense against Hamas rockets and incursions. For the large part Hamas rockets fall on empty fields and away from main centers of populations whereas Israel continues to bomb thickly populated city centers in Gaza with impunity.

They are also getting armed and ready for a ground offensive that will follow the devastating air strikes. We have seen this cycle get repeated every few years.

Meanwhile the largest prison in the world today presents an eerily similar picture to a Warsaw ghetto from World War II. Ironically the custodians of this barbaric prison seemed to have learnt little from the holocaust inflicted on their ancestors by Hitler decades ago.

The sorrowful cry of “never again” referring to the holocaust rings hollow today as the powerful occupying force of Israel carries out Apartheid practices similar to the Nazi persecutors of yesteryears. By all accounts the victim has transformed into the wolf.

Israeli Shooting Range Offers Tourists Chance to Shoot Down Targets Designed to Look Like Palestinians

The two-hour sessions include a simulated suicide bomber and a live attack dog situation

A shooting range in Israel has come under fire for offering tourists the chance to pretend they’re security services shutting down terror attacks – using targets mocked up to look like Palestinians.

Caliber 3, which is based in the West Bank and run by a former member of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), calls itself “the premier academy for counter terror and security”. It offers six programs for tourists, including desert “Survival Training”, krav magna martial arts, and “Combat Rappelling” using paintball guns.

Its “Ultimate Shooting Adventure” has raised eyebrows for its use of real guns and simulated terror attacks – with targets dressed up in Palestinian keffiyehs.

Photos on the company’s Facebook page show photos of men wearing keffiyehs for target practice, and the “terrorists” in live combat situations also wearing the traditional Palestinian scarves.

But a spokesperson told The Independent that this was only because the targets are made to look as real as possible, replicating generic street scenes.

"This is not strange at all," said Yoav Fleishman, Foreign Relations Manager. "We have a very diverse set of target posters, and many times the population who train are used to that kind of population on the ground. We want to simulate a (regular) street which means the people who walk around the street are the people you see on the target posters.

"We have many kinds of posters. Some of them are Arabs because that's the kind of population we have here. You can focus on that and say that is what we do but that would be an oversimplification, reading the situation inappropriately.

"We try to keep it as (realistic) as possible."

Tourists use real guns and ammunition for the two-hour session, Haaretz reported. Its “live counter-terror demonstration” includes a simulated suicide bombing, knife attack, “sniper tournament” using real assault and sniper rifles, and a demonstration of forces taking down a suspect with attack dogs.

The sessions cost $115 (£88), with a $30 discount for children. Children are not allowed to use guns - since the minimum age to use weapons in Israel is 18.

Caliber 3’s website describes the Ultimate Shooting Adventure as its “legendary introduction program” and says it’s suitable for “tourists of any age who would like to get a taste of Israeli methods of shooting and combat”.

“Learn from the experts about weapons handling, counter terrorism tactics and the values that guide the Israel Defense Forces,” it adds.

There are six similar facilities across Israel
, according to Middle East Monitor.

Caliber 3 opened in 2003, originally to run counter-terrorism courses for professionals. Founder Sharon Gat is a former IDF colonel. Between 22,000 and 25,000 foreigners visit each year, Fleishman told The Independent.

Most are from the US, Gat told Haaretz, but numbers are increasing from China, Russia, Italy, France and South America. The company is running a week-long US-based program in Pennsylvania next month. They will also run another in San Diego.

Although authorities initially banned him from offering the courses to foreign tourists, Gat told Haaretz that the Israeli government now “understands the importance of what we do… People who do our programs… become ambassadors for the State of Israel.”

He said that the thought came to him after thinking about the horrors of the Holocaust. "I said to myself that I am going to open this place to the public to show what a long way the Jewish people have come in 75 years,” he said.

Anti-Terrorism Fantasy Camps Become Tourist Attraction In Israel

    July 6, 2017

These part-propaganda, part-morbid fantasy “terror camps” provide tourists a chance to play the role of IDF soldiers in dramatic situations.

Holidays are all about having fun, exploring new places and relaxing in the sun. However, the latest tourist attraction in Israel seems to be the complete opposite of that.

Apparently, half a dozen of fantasy terror camps have popped up throughout Israel and the West Bank, offering tourists from across the globe a chance to pretend-kill terrorists, who look suspiciously like Palestinian Arabs, only for $115 per person.

These facilities allow visitors to train like IDF soldiers and act in a variety of stimulated situations — including an explosion at a Jerusalem marketplace, a stabbing attack, a sniper tournament and a live demonstration with attack dogs.

The two-hour “training camp,” which is frankly part-propaganda and part-morbid amusement, provides travelers “a taste of the Israeli military experience,”
    according to Haaretz.

Caliber 3 in the Israeli settlement bloc of Gush Etzion in the West Bank is reportedly the most popular of all these “anti-terror” camps. IDF Colonel Sharon Gat established the facility, which later inspired several others across the country, back in 2003. He said approximately 15,000 to 25,000 tourists visit Caliber 3 each year and the majority of the visitors are American Jews.

However, in recent years, these military stimulation sites, which do nothing but promote the anti-Palestinian sentiment, have also gained massive popularity among travelers from Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy, Russia and China — even those who are on work-related trips and religious pilgrimages.

It is also important to note the tourists use actual guns and have former soldiers and retired officials to guide them.

Apart from entertaining tourists, sites like Caliber 3 also provide training to security personnel and sell hard-core military equipment — along with T-shirts and other merchandise.

Moreover, Gat’s facility also runs a summer camp for teenage boys. The three-month camp includes training and lessons on Zionism and survival skills, according to RT.

Israeli Rabbi Asks West Bank Settlers to Poison Palestinian Water

Inspired by such incitement, Jewish settlers killed several Palestinians in West Bank

Days of Palestine, West Bank -Israeli Jewish Rabbi Shlomo Mlma asked on Sunday Israeli Jewish settlers to poison Palestinian water resources in order to kill them.

    Jun 20, 2016

Mlma, the chairman of the Council of Rabbis in the West Bank settlements, asked the settlers to do so in order to cleanse the Palestinians from the West Bank cities and villages.

According to Israeli anti-occupation organisation “Breaking the Silence,” the rabbi wanted the Israeli Jewish settlers to push the Palestinians to leave their villages and pave the way for settlers to take over their lands.

Dozens of similar orders were made by rabbis that called for killing Palestinians, robbing their lands and farmlands and destroying their property.

International law views the West Bank and East Jerusalem as occupied territories and considers all Jewish settlement building on the land to be illegal.

About 800,000 Jewish settlers currently live on more than 100 Jewish-only settlements built since Israel occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967.

Inspired by such incitement, Israeli Jewish settlers several times killed Palestinians and destroyed their properties in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces kidnapped 880 Palestinians in July

Israeli occupation forces kidnapped 880 Palestinians occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and besieged Gaza Strip in July, a statement said on Wednesday.

The statement was issued by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS), Al-Mezan Centre for Human Rights, Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association and the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs.

Among the kidnapped were 144 children and 18 women, the report pointed out, adding that the majority of the kidnappings took place in East Jerusalem the occupied West Bank.

July’s kidnappings brought the total number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails to 6,400, including 52 women, 10 teenage girls and 300 children, according to the report.

Among the prisoners are 12 members of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), one of whom has been classified by Israel as an “illegal fighter.”

Meanwhile, approximately 450 prisoners are being held without trial or charge under Israel’s widely condemned policy of administrative detention.

Israeli occupation authorities issued 97 administrative detention orders in July, 20 of which were first-time sentences, while the other Palestinians saw their existing administrative detentions renewed.

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a biweekly average of 95 search and detention raids carried out over the course of 2016, according to UN documentation.
