Indian Daughter brutally beats 85-year-old mother

    May 24, 2016

    The video of a
woman mercilessly beating her frail old mother is being widely shared on social media platforms, eliciting a lot of outrage among those who have seen it. Apparently after the video went viral, the neighbor who shot the video was contacted by the police for details, however, the mother refused to give any statement.

    According to reports, the
85-year-old mother was beaten by her 60-year-old daughter in Delhi’s Kalkaji area because of a quarrel over food. In the video, she can be seen abusing her mother, dragging her, slapping her and then pulling her her inside the house. The woman can also be heard shouting at the neighbor, who criticized her for beating the old woman.

    video: https://www.facebook.com/akaalsahait...1401503301260/

    Reportedly, the
mother has been living with her daughter for the past 10 years after her husband passed away and this is a regular affair, the neighbors claimed. “I decided to upload the video on Facebook following which I was contacted by the police,” Preetpal Singh, the neighbor who shot the video, told The Times of India.

since the mother did not give any statement to the police, no action could be taken.

    80-year-old ‘abused’ by daughter

DCW team finds stale flour, bread with fungus

    May 25, 2016

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Tuesday took suo motu cognisance in the case of an 80-year-old woman who was allegedly abused by her daughter.

DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal and other members, who visited Gurcharan Kaur in her Kalkaji residence, said there was
no food in the octogenarian’s house except stale kneaded flour and fungus-ridden slices of bread.

Old lady beaten blue by daughter. Neighbor, small girl confirm regular beating. Will ensure protection, action,” Maliwal tweeted. “Trying to trace children of old lady. How can boy in London leave her. Neighbour told one girl took away her pension, other her rent. Shame.”

The commission said Kaur told them her right arm was injured because her daughter had beaten her up last month.

The DCW intervened after a video of Kaur’s daughter allegedly beating her up went viral on social media Monday.

A DCW official said, “Gurcharan Kaur’s
daughter has regularly been beating her up…. The Commission also observed that there was no food in the kitchen. It only had some stale flour and few fungus-laden bread slices”.

Maliwal has also written to Police Commissioner Alok Verma and Additional District Magistrate (southeast) M K Divedi, seeking their intervention in the case. She informed them that the commission had recorded
statements of six neighbours, who testified that Kaur’s daughter would regularly beat her up.

In her letter to Verma, Maliwal urged him to “take suitable penal action against the daughter Ms Gurvinder Kaur. Ensure protection of the old lady Ms Gurcharan Kaur. Kindly ensure preventive measures against entry of the daughter into the building where Ms Gurcharan Kaur resides. Provide the Commission with the names and addresses of the children of the old lady to carry out its proceedings.”

“The Commission recommends immediate provision of protection and adequate maintenance to the senior citizen… since the building is owned by Ms Gurcharan Kaur, it is recommended that the rent money be deposited in her account and a caretaker immediately appointed to look after her,” Maliwal wrote to Divedi.

    Kaur told DCW
she had four daughters and a son. The neighbours alleged that while one daughter took away all her rent money, the other took away the senior citizen’s pension that Kaur received, leaving her penniless.

The DCW, in a statement, said, “The old lady refused to get a case registered against her daughter. In fact, she changed her statement subsequently, wherein she stated that she was not beaten by her daughter. One can very well understand that this is the mother’s way of protecting her children from legal action”.

BJP Youth Wing Leader Boasts About Setting Fire To Rohingya Camp In Delhi, Complaints Filed

    April 20th, 2018

Senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Thursday filed a case against
BJP youth leader Manish Chandela who has tweeted that they had burnt the Rohingya camp in Delhi. Bhushan accused Delhi police of not taking any action against this BJP Yuva Morcha leader. All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), a Muslim body also filed a complaint with Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik against Manish Chandela. Chandela’s account is no longer active on Twitter.

    On April 15, 2018,
a massive fire engulfed a Rohingya refugee camp in Delhi’s Madanpur Khadar area at 3 in the night. Over 200 residents of the camp lost their belongings, including their ID cards and special visas issued by the United Nations. They have also lost documents of their properties in Myanmar. Eleven fire engines took over 3 hours to douse the flames.

Manish replied to a tweet regarding the burning of Rohingya camps saying “Well done our heroes.” When asked for doing what he replied:
“Yes we burnt the houses of Rohingya terrorists.” In another tweet, he said, “Yes we did it, we do it again.”

Manish Chandela has since deleted his Twitter account after a series of tweets.

Stop using Muslims' petrol, look for gaumutra fuel: Ex-IPS to Sanghis

    April 24, 2018

Sanjiv Bhatt, an Ex-IPS officer from Gujarat, who is quite vocal and wears his opinions on his sleeves, attacked Bhakts and Sanghis after a man, who claims to be affiliated with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, cancelled his Ola ride as the driver was Muslim; saying they should stop using petrol as well.

“Sanghi Nationalists and Modi Bhakts who have a problem with Muslim Ola Drivers should stop using all petroleum products as most of these products can be traced back to one Muslim country or the other. They should wait for Baba Ramdev to develop an alternative fuel from Gaumutra,” the Ex-IPS officer tweeted.

Sanghi Nationalists and Modi Bhakts who have a problem with Muslim Ola Drivers, should stop using all petroleum products as most of these products can be traced back to one Muslim country or the other. They should wait for Baba Ramdev to develop an alternative fuel from Gaumutra.
    — Sanjiv Bhatt (IPS) (@sanjivbhatt) April 23, 2018

Abhishek Mishra on April 20, had announced that he cancelled the cab because he did not want to give money to “Jihadi People”. He also posted a screenshot of the cancellation, which showed the driver’s name as Masood Alam. Meanwhile, Ola Cabs on Sunday said that they do not discriminate people on religious lines.

“Ola, like our country, is a secular platform, and we don’t discriminate our driver partners or customers basis their caste, religion, gender or creed. We urge all our customers and driver partners to treat each other with respect at all times,” Ola said in a statement.

Mishra, whose verified Twitter account says Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Ideology First, Hindutva Thinker, Digital & Social Media Advisor (Views Personal) happens to be followed by over 14,000 people on Twitter, also has defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan and minister of culture Mahesh Sharma among his followers.

This tweet started a firestorm where many people demanded Ola to block his account.

How would India react if Hindu girl was raped in mosque: Ex IPS Sanjiv Bhatt on Kathua rape

    April 12, 2018

Former Indian Police Service officer from Gujarat, Sanjiv Bhatt who is known for his role in filing an affidavit in the SC against the then Gujarat CM and now PM, Narendra Modi, concerning his alleged participation in the 2002 Gujarat riots; has said ‘what would have happened if the situation was reversed in the Kathua rape case’ and the criminals were Muslims.

Bhatt tweeted on Wednesday “Just imagine how Indian media and public would have reacted to a Hindu girl being abducted, abused, raped and killed by several Muslim men while being hidden inside a mosque? All Hindus who are silent about this ghastly crime that has been committed in their name are complicit.”

The dead body of the 8-year-old girl belonging to Muslim Gujjar-Bakarwal community was recovered from Rassana forest on January 17, a week after she went missing while grazing horses in the area on January 10. She was kept a hostage in a temple and was raped multiple times.

Top sources in the state police Crime branch said that the DNA of hair strands found inside the temple matched with those of the minor who was raped and subsequently murdered. “The temple premises were searched for evidence and clues after one of the accused confirmed the minor had been held in captivity inside the temple,” a Crime Branch source said.

Her family alleged that the police had done little to find her. After the Gujjar community erupted in protest, the case was handed over to the crime branch, which arrested two special police officers. One of them is accused of direct involvement in the murder.

9-yr-old sexually abused on train in TN: Accused a lawyer and former BJP candidate, arrested

'She screamed in fear and we woke up': 9-year-old sexually assaulted in train, family narrates horror

    by Priyanka Thirumurthy - April 23, 2018

It has not even been 24 hours since India instituted death penalty for the rape of children below 12 years. But a shocking incident of child sexual abuse has emerged once again, this time from Tamil Nadu.

the accused, K.P Prem Ananth is a lawyer and carried a membership card of the Madras High Court Advocates Association. He also contested as the BJP's candidate in the 2006 elections from Dr.Radhakrishnan Nagar in Chennai.

The victim, a nine-year- old girl, was travelling with her family from Thiruvananthapuram to Chennai by a train that departed on Saturday. She was on a middle berth, her mother and brother on the lower berth and her father on the upper berth. The accused got into the train close to 1 a.m. According to the complaint given by the mother, "This man got in with an open ticket, without reservation. A berth opposite mine was not occupied. I guess the TTE took money and let him in though he denied it. He kissed her cheeks and pressed her chest, closed her mouth and molested her further. She pushed him. He got up to touch her the second time and she screamed, 'Mama, this man is touching my chest'."

The family immediately sprung into action. The crime was committed between Coimbatore and Erode, so they complained to the TTE and waited for the next station to hand over the culprit to the police.

Other passengers who heard the child scream also gave their statements to the police.

From videos that passengers on the train took (which TNM has seen), the man looks inebriated and at one point of time was seen lying on the floor as the police questioned him.

    When TNM contacted the Erode
police, however, they attempted to play down the incident.

"The accused has just touched the girl," said one police officer.

"They caught him and gave him to the TTE," the official added.

Records on the Election Commission website confirm that Prem Ananth had contested in a BJP seat in 2006. The
57-year-old lawyer's address has been listed as Besant Nagar in his Aadhar card.

A source in the Bar Council told TNM that he was not an actively practising lawyer and was running a textile showroom.

According to the family, they woke up hearing the child's screams and a crowd gathered. "He was pulled towards the toilet space. The police also came by then. But
he threatened us and started saying he is an advocate and politically connected," the mother of the child told TNM.

The Erode Railway police have arrested the man and an FIR has been filed in the case. The accused has been booked for aggravated sexual assault under sections 9(m) and 10 of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act.

Indian father 'gifts' daughter to friends, gang rapes her

    April 19, 2018

    A man allegedly
‘gifted’ his 35-year-old daughter to his friends and later joined them to gang-rape her early Monday in Sitapur district, about 70km away from Lucknow. One of the three accused in the crime was arrested on Tuesday while the others are on the run.

Police said the accused who is in his late 50s — and his daughter were visiting a fair in Kamlapur area on the evening of April 15. After attending the fair, the accused called his friend Maan Singh, a history-sheeter, to the spot. The men then convinced the woman to ride with them on a bike and took her to the house of another friend, Meraj.

    There, the
woman’s father handed her over to the men and all three took turns in raping her. She was kept confined in Meraj’s house for the next 18 hours until she finally escaped on Monday evening, said cops. Once home, she narrated her ordeal to her mother and an FIR was registered the same day.

Meraj was arrested on Tuesday while the woman’s father and Maan Singh are yet to be apprehended. Kamlapur SHO Sanjeet Sonkar said Meraj is in his early forties and works as a quack in Kamlapur. “He claimed to be a medical practitioner but couldn’t produce a degree,” Sonkar added. On the day of the crime, Meraj’s family was away.

Sitapur SP Sureshrao A Kulkarni said that the woman had been married off 16 years ago but returned to her maternal house within two years of marriage after a feud with her husband.
In November 2017, her father had been banished from the village following allegations of an incestuous relationship between the father and daughter. “A panchayat was called and the father was arrested. He got bail in February this year,” said Kulkarni. Thereafter, the woman started staying separately with her 14-year-old child.

Hindu Extremist Enter Muslim College With Guns and Police Support, and Attack Students

RSS Enters AMU Campus With Guns, Attacks Students With the Support of Police

    May 3, 2018

Members of Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV), a right wing Hindu group entered Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus with guns and other weapons and attacked students on Wednesday (May 2, 2018). The attack was against the visit of former Vice President of India, Hamid Ansari. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the right wing Hindu parent party of the ruling BJP and other Hindutva outfits had earlier sought permission from AMU Vice Chancellor (VC) to hold what they call shakhas inside campus. RSS shakhas are Hindu right-wing fundamentalist religious training camps.

The Hindu Yuva Vahini group entered campus with police protection. When AMU students protested, they were attacked by the Yuva Vahini goons as well as the police.
Many students had to be hospitalised due to serious injuries. It has been reported that the pretext used for Vahini supporters for their armed attack was a demand to remove a portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah that has been hanging in the students’ union hall for 80 years. Jinnah was the leader of the All-India Muslim League in India and is considered to be the founder of Pakistan.

A cursory glance at the series of events points towards a meticulously planned attack rather than one that erupted due to the ‘provocation’ by a Jinnah portrait. Hours before the attack, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, Subramanian Swamy had tweeted on his social media profile with over 70 lakh followers, ‘Somebody needs to teach AMU a lesson. Who will do it?’ The post was made sharing an article by the same name that was published on pgurus.com. on May 1, 2018. The tweet seems to have been deleted now.

Hindu Yuva Vahini activists who were around 30 in the number entered campus through the central gate of AMU called Bab-e-Syed with the support of police people in uniform. They are reported to have shouted slogans like ‘We will not let such respect for Jinnah pass in India,’
‘If you want to remain in India, you must say Vande Mataram,’ ‘Vande Mataram, Jai Shri Ram!’ etc. They waved their pistols and other weapons in the air to proclaim there entry and presence.

Even though the students’ union of AMU protested and handed over six Hindu Yuva Vahini activists to the police for the violence, they were not charged and were let off without filing an FIR (First Information Report). After the police refused to act based on the complaint of students and stop the armed HYV, AMU students started a protest against this lack of action by the police.

    Following this protest,
HYV activists and the police launched a fresh attack on AMU students with lathi charge and pelting of stones. Around 65 students were injured in the attack. President of AMU Students’ Union Maskoor Ahmed Usmani, Mohammad Fahad, Mazin Zaidi were among the students who were severely injured and admitted to hospital.

It is also said that the attack on the pretext of the photograph was aimed at Hamid Ansari himself. Students who were present at the cite said on social media, ‘The Sanghi goons came to attack former Vice President Janab Hamid Ansari. They almost reached to the guest house where he was staying, waved their weapons, fired bullets and raised slogans against AMU and Muslims.

Hamid Ansari has been under attack by the right wing Hindus many times during his tenure and after it. The programme was cancelled by the University after the attack. Hamid Ansari’s lecture in the University was to be on ‘pluralism.’ Many students’ associations including Jawaharlal Nehru Students’ Union (JNUSU) have condemned the attack in strong words.

United Against Hate has called for a protest march against the violence on May 4, 2018.

AMU Jinnah Row: 1,000 Girls Join Protest to Demand 'Justice' Against Brutal Lathicharge

The girls demanded action against the miscreants [hindu extremists] who tried to barge into the university premises on Wednesday. They claimed that at least 15-20 miscreants armed with illegal weapons tried to enter the campus.

    by Deepa Rana - May 3, 2018

Aligarh Muslim University's Women's College students take out a protest rally in Aligarh

Around 1,000 girls from AMU Women’s College on Thursday marched from Staff Club to University Circle to join other AMU students in their protest against Wednesday’s lathicharge in which at least 20 students were injured.

The girls demanded action against the miscreants [hindu extremists] who tried to barge into the university premises on Wednesday. They claimed that at least 15-20 miscreants [hindu extremists] armed with illegal weapons tried to enter the campus.

The students complained that during the visit of former Vice-President Hamid Ansari on Wednesday, some outsiders tried to disturb the event.

The students demanded strict action against these miscreants [hindu extremists] and against state police. At least 20 students were brutally injured and were admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru medical college.

The girls, along with at least 2,000 other AMU students, staged a dharna at the Bab-e-Syed gate of the university and raised slogans against the district administration, demanding action.

Talking to CNN-News18, AMU spokesperson, Omar Pirzada said that the university administration stands with the students in these “testing times”.

Kulsum Salahuddin, a PhD scholar, said, “We demand AMU be projected as a historical and secular institution like it has always been in practice.”

Talking to News18, AMU Students’ Union President, Makshoor Ahmad Usmani said that Jinnah is a historical figure and his portrait has been there since 1938 in the student union hall. He also said that students may have ideological differences, but they do no stand for the two nation theory of Jinnah. But that also doesn't mean that historical facts should be distorted.

Another fellow protester and student, Imtiaz, said that the central g
overnment has failed to provide the youth with jobs and employment and now the students are being divided in the name of Hindu and Muslim by some fringe elements.

Hindu groups claim to have stopped Friday Prayer in several open spaces

Members of the Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti say they prevented Muslims from holding prayers in ten locations.

    by Abhishek Dey - 5/4/2018

Hindutva groups in Haryana’s Gurgaon said they had stopped Muslims from praying in several open spaces on Friday.

The disruptions came two weeks after Hindu residents of two villages in Gurgaon’s Sector 53 had stopped namaaz in an open space where around 700 Muslim men gathered every Friday afternoon. The villagers alleged that Muslims used the weekly prayers as an excuse to encroach on government land.

    By 1.30 pm on Friday,
members of the Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti said that they had prevented namaaz from being conducted in 10 open spaces in areas that included Atul Kataria Chowk, Sikanderpur, Cyber Park Sector 40, Wazirabad and Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road. The Samiti is an umbrella body of the local units of 12 Hindutva groups including the Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Shiv Sena, Hindu Jagran Manch and the, Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Kranti Dal, according to its members.

“Muslims have to take permission of the administration to pray in open spaces,” said Rajeev Mittal, national coordinator of the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Kranti Dal. “Members of Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti have today [Friday] interfered in 10 cases where Muslims were found preparing before the namaaz. We did not let that happen. But no law and order issues were reported. Our demand was clear – get permission from the authorities.”

Abhishek Gaur, district president of Bajrang Dal in Gurgaon added: “Members of our group are looking out for open space namaaz today and they have been asked to stop the Muslims whenever they spot any without getting into any law and order trouble.”

Residents of Gurgaon confirmed some of the disruptions. Documentary film maker Rahul Roy, who lives near Sikanderpur, said that the
namaaz outside the metro station had to stop around 1.30 pm when three or four packed vehicles arrived there. “The men tried to storm into the area where the namaaz was taking place,” he said. “They were stopped by the police and finally they left. The Muslims were too terrified to resume the namaaz.”

Social media users also witnessed some of the disruptions.

Right wing groups fanned out across Gurgaon on Friday afternoon, acting on their threat of ensuring namaz is not read in vacant plots and parks in the city. Cyber Park & Sikanderpur were among the places they visited to prevent worshippers from reading namaz. @IndianExpress pic.twitter.com/OFcdT7MsKt
    — Sakshi Dayal (@sakshi_dayal) May 4, 2018

On Friday afternoon, senior police officials in Gurgaon said that no complaints had been received in connection with any of the namaaz disruptions. “Our duty is to maintain law and order,” said Ravinder Kumar, Gurgaon Police spokesperson. “It is the district administration’s call on where it would allow namaaz to happen and where not.”

Gurgaon divisional commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh did not respond to phone calls and messages till the time this report was filed.

News is also petering in that this is happening all across Gurgaon.
    — Radha Khan (@RadhaKhn) May 4, 2018

The situation has been tense since April 20, when Hindu residents of the villages of Wazirabad and Kanhai descended on a field in Gurgaon’s Sector 53 where hundreds of Muslim men had gathered for namaaz and forced them to leave. After a video of the incident surfaced on social media, six persons were arrested for hurting religious sentiments. They were later released on bail.

On April 27, the namaaz at Sector 53 took place only because there was intense police deployment. But
this week, Muslims canceled the prayers in Sector 53 fearing attacks by Hindus from nearby villages and members of local Hindutva outfits who have led protests against them, said Hafeez Junaid, who along with his brothers organise the prayers in the Sector 53 ground.

Abhishek Gaur of Bajrang Dal said that stopping the namaaz in Sector 53 was the group’s first achievement. “Now, we have to make sure that namaaz stops in all open grounds in Gurgaon one after another,” he said.

While, so far, no word has come from the district administration on whether Muslims will now be required to obtain written permission from the authorities to organise prayers in open spaces, Gurgaon Police has prepared a list that Scroll.in has seen of 35 open spaces where security has to be stepped up.

Earlier in the day, Hindu residents of Wazirabad and Kanhai villages had insisted that if Muslims gathered for the Friday prayers on the open ground in Sector 53, they would organise a havan or Hindu fire ritual in the same place. When the Muslims in the area stepped back, the Hindus changed their plans too. “No havan will happen now,” said Sube Singh Vohra, former sarpanch of Wazirabad village.

On Monday, the Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, which was formed after the April 20 incident, had organised a protest outside the secretariat demanding that the authorities put a stop to prayers organised by Muslims in open spaces in the vicinity of Hindu-dominated neighbourhoods.

On Thursday, a group of around 130 residents of Gurgaon wrote to the divisional commissioner protesting against the demands of the Hindutva groups. They urged to the district administration to assuage fear of the Muslim community and support upholding of their constitutional rights to peacefully pray without any fear or intimidation, said Radha Khan, one of the signatories in the letter.

There are 22 mosques in Gurgaon, the biggest one being a half-constructed structure in Sector 57 that is now tied up in a legal dispute. Gurgaon’s Muslims also gather for Friday prayers in an estimated 106 open spaces. The Sector 53 ground was the second open space in Gurgaon at which Muslims began to conduct Friday prayers. The first spot was in Sector 29.

The enemies of Islam are using various lame excuses to wage their war on Islam and Muslims. A time will come when the Muslims will have had enough and rise up against them.

Namaz row: Don’t we perform yoga in parks or jagran on roads, asks Congress leader

    by Joel Joseph - May 7, 2018

Remarks attributed to Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday that namaz should be read in “mosques or idgahs” or in “private spaces” evoked sharp reactions from Opposition parties in the state that drew parallels with yoga and jagran sessions being organised in parks or on streets.

Both the Congress and the INLD accused the ruling BJP of deliberately playing the communal card to attract Hindu voters ahead of the 2019 general election. Prodded by saffron outfits to make his stand clear, Khattar had purportedly said “namaz should be read in a masjid or an idgah, and if short of space, they (Muslims) should read it in their private spaces.” The CM issued a clarification later in the day, saying he had never stopped anyone from offering namaz.

Muslims have been offering namaz in the open for over a decade in Gurugram and everything was smooth until now. With the 2019 polls approaching, they want to divide the society on religious lines. This is purely a political game to get the attention of Hindu voters,” said Captain Ajay Yadav, who was the power minister in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government.

“Instead of making such statements, the CM should allot places large enough for offering namaz. They (Muslims) congregate on the streets because they do not have a place big enough. And why blame them alone?
Don’t we do yoga in parks and at times have jagran on the roads?” he asked.

Echoing the Congress, INLD, too, accused the BJP of trying to polarise the voters. “The BJP is trying to divide the electorate on communal grounds, keeping in mind the approaching elections at the national and state level. It is the government’s responsibility to ensure the Muslims feel safe and secure. The government should also find alternative land where namaz can be offered,” said INLD leader Gopi Chand Gehlot.

The Gurugram administration has said it is in the process of identifying temporary sites where Muslims can offer prayers.

Independent MLA and Haryana Waqf board chairman Raees Khan, known for his BJP leanings, claimed he was unaware of the issue until Friday. “I was not aware of the problem. I got to know it only day before yesterday. I am in touch with the district administration to identify land belonging to the Waqf board. Within a week, we should be able to allocate places where namaz can be offered,” said Khan, the Independent MLA from Punhana in neighbouring Mewat.

Khattar’s remarks gave Saffron outfits a shot in the arm. Sube Singh Bora, the former sarpanch of Wazirabad village who has emerged as a central figure in the namaz protest, said: “The CM has spoken and has agreed to what we have been demanding all this while. But this alone won’t suffice. The government has to quickly specify places where namaz can be offered in the open.”
