Lawsuit after Malaysian flag reported as 'IS symbol' in US

A US employee association is being sued after restricting a Muslim man's membership over a row about a flag.

Munir Zanial let a property at a lake owned by the organisation for a Malaysian Independence Day party.

The FBI was alerted when an employee reported Muslim guests were displaying what was described as a US flag defaced with Islamic State group symbols.

The investigation ended when it emerged the flag was Malaysia's, but Mr Zanial was banned from hosting events.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Kansas has now filed a law suit accusing the Spirit Boeing Employees Association of "racial profiling and blatant religious discrimination".

    'Blatant discrimination'

Mr Zanial, a Muslim Malaysian aerospace engineer, was a paying member of the employee association when he rented the property to celebrate both Malaysian Independence Day and the end of Ramadan in September 2017.

According to the complaint, the party included guests of Indian-Malaysian ancestry with several women wearing hijabs.

The FBI closed its investigation the following month, but the law suit alleges that the employee association then hired a private investigator to look into the incident, and ended Mr Zanial's rental privileges without informing him.

The executive director of the ACLU of Kansas said: "To label someone a terrorist due to their appearance and their celebration of their heritage is shameful, but to continue to use that mislabel as grounds for blatant discrimination - even after it had been discredited by the FBI - is downright reprehensible."

The Spirit Boeing Employees Association has made no comment.

Not just an individual ignorant person but an ignorant islamophobe employee association organization that is so dumb and retarded to think their US flag was being tarnished and so arrogant that they still wouldn't back off from their hatred.

CAIR-MN Calls for Resignation of Former BestBuy CEO From Current Posts Over Anti-Muslim Ads

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today
called on Brad Anderson, former Best Buy CEO and current MPR and General Mills board member to resign from those posts due to his financial support for a hate group that produced anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim advertisements that targeted voters in swing states prior to the 2016 election.

    It has been reported, that
Brad Anderson, the former CEO of Best Buy and Olympus Ventures LLC, which is tied to a foundation created by Dick Schulze, the founder of Best Buy are implicated in spending up to $60,000 in video ads titled “Welcome to the Islamic States of America,” which featured the “Hollywood” sign replaced with the Islamic phrase “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great) and the Statue of Liberty wearing a burka. In the video, St. Paul’s Chapel in Manhattan is shown with an Islamic star and crescent and Sports Illustrated magazine becomes “Sharia Law Illustrated.”

“Today we have learned that our own Brad Anderson financed the worst anti-Muslim/anti-Immigrant bigoted political ad that aimed to sway voters” said CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein. “We call on him to do the right thing and resign immediately from all corporate and institutional boards including but not limited to MPR and General Mills.”

    Hussein added
we are concerned over companies like Facebook and Google who are actively and purposefully profiting from bigotry and hate. These types of hate ads and videos threaten the lives of our community members and drive discord in our nation.

CAIR said it has witnessed an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president. The Washington-based civil rights organization has also repeatedly expressed concern about Islamophobic and racist Trump administration policies and appointments.

Community members are being urged to report any bias incidents to police and to CAIR's Civil Rights Department at 612-206-3360.

Feds to play undercover recording in trial for Jacksonville mosque shooting plot

    By Frank Powers - May 08, 2018

Federal prosecutors plan to play a recording made by an undercover agent during a trial for a man facing federal charges in connection with what authorities say was
a plot to carry out a mass shooting at a Jacksonville mosque.

Bernandino Bolatete, 69, has pleaded not guilty to knowingly receiving and possessing a silencer not registered to him. He faces up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted.

Prosecutors said the undercover agent who "sold" Bolatete the silencer was wearing a wire that recorded their conversation.

They plan to introduce that recording at trial. They said that on the recording, the agent tells Bolatete before the arrest a fictional story about a dispute he was having with a Muslim customer.
Bolatete told the agent that if he sold him the silencer, he could use it to kill the Muslim customer.

Prosecutors said they also plan to show text messages from Bolatete at trial that discuss the "hit."

Bolatete is being held without bond while he awaits trial. The judge found he poses “an extreme risk to the community” based on his own statements and possession of multiple firearms.

    Investigators seized
a stockpile of 11 guns and over 2,000 rounds of ammunition when they raided his home in the city’s East Arlington neighborhood, prosecutors said.

He was arrested Dec. 1 after police said he skirted federal gun laws to buy a suppressor for $100. In reality, the man selling the gun was an undercover detective with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The detective said he met Bolatete at his place of work, where he spoke of buying a silencer off the black market.
He later indicated he had plans to shoot up the Islamic Center of Northeast Florida.
