View Full Version : New rules for the boards

1) Please use proper grammar and try your best to spell words correctly. The posts aren't a race to see who can post the fastest. (If u wer riting a buk, wud u rit dis way?) If you want people to take your posts seriously, try using correct grammar and spelling. If it would be helpful, I can integrate a spell-check feature into the boards. It will take a bit of programming, but I can do it. It would be faster to type your posts in Microsoft® Word® and then just copy and paste your posts here.

2) I have been receiving complaints that people are misusing the IM feature of the boards to flirt with the opposite gender. The IM feature can be used for same-sex chatting or for contacting Administrators for emergency purposes. For example, if a post is on the boards that violates the rules of NetMuslims, it is acceptable to contact any administrator who happens to be online to inform them to edit and/or delete the post.

2) This rule also applies to PMs (private messages). We strongly discourage the use of IMs and PMs between people of the opposite sex for simply chatting or getting to know one another, as this is against the rules of conduct in Islam.

Assalamu alaikum wr wb

Masha'Allah. You guys already beat me to it. These are great ideas, let's all try to follow them insha'Allah.

If people want to do shorten IM's for text messages they can there. But for a message board it represents yourself so try to understand.
Despite that some people can read it is ok but there are others that can't read it or the ones that can read it might not appreciate it as it's harder to read it that way.

For example; my son wants to join this place because he can actually understand what you guys are typing. He can clearly read the right words but even the wrong ones. He would fit right in. I guess that's how I can read them because I can understand his reading despite my husband can't understand it I can...blame this board I guess...
But still... out of respect for others just try to do that insha'Allah.

JazakuAllahkhairun

UmmiIbrahim_isa(some ppl shortened ur name too :)

Actually i use lots wht, tht, whn etc...its not that i want to post it quick, its just i check netmuslim every half an hour,,,,even when i am doing study etc... so its kind of quickened the process...anyway on internet some words like these, are so familiar now, that i think Oxford would include them soon i suppose...anyway, its not a good practice though...so lets give the new rule a try.....inshAllAH

People should fear Allah who use this board for flirting or any other kind of haram activities...i am sure most of the brothers and sisters are not least interested in knowing their opposite sex personally... I have received lots of PMs too...as this is the only discussion board i have ever joined with..i was wondering does it usually happen or what??? or was it my fault.. my name or my posting encouraging these??? AND its really embarrassing and saddening .... So please stop that inshAllah.... here we come to gather knowledge about islamic rules, not to violate them..

May Allah forgive all our sins...

I'm not saying that you guys need to have 100% perfect grammar, but something resembling a normal English sentence would help considerably. There are some posts written on here that look like they're written in Klingon.

People = ppl
Muslim = mslm
somewhere = smwhre
understand = undrstnd
Sister - sis
Brother - bro
reaction = rxn

Just a thought - you have the ultimate say. hey ultimate = ultmte. Okay never mind. oh and never mind = Nvmd
Like in Fiji everybody write Muhammed as Mohd :)
Oh! oh! oh! hussein bhai!! hussein bhai- another idea just came in my head :p maybe you could post a list of commonly used words in arabic so that would also help us with arabic language. I would personally love it.
What do you guys think? A chance for us all to learn more arabic words.

It would be nice to come in here and read serious posts like before. Recently I feel that I have logged on to a poetry contest in every posting. If people don't have the time to post in readable english maybe they should try to slow down.

I would tend to agree with mohawk. I am not seeing as many discussions as before. It would be nice to see more discussions of Islamic concepts or current events.

Mashallah, the poems are good, but I miss those discussions and they were the main reason why I kept coming to this site.

There are some who register and then make numerous posts on various threads/categories/sections often inserting links to some sort of marketing/advertising of their product. The post tries to show it is relevant to the topic by saying a few words about the topic and sometimes have nothing to do with the topic on hand. We do not have enough mods here to be monitoring and babysitting to clean up this kind of spamming. We have an advertising section towards the bottom of the forum to share relevant links. Rather then wasting my time finding these posts to delete or move them, i simply delete all posts posted by that user. Moving forward, i may as well start banning these users, especially considering they haven't posted anything of value to the readers.
